We all know that 2017 has been a big year for gin, with the British population jumping on board with the trend for artisan gins, sampling various flavours of the spirit and mixing gin with all manner of exciting tonics.
But what about gin-flavoured cheese? Is that a step too far? Well one cheese maker in the north of England doesn’t think so.
The Cheshire Cheese Company has produced a gin-flavoured cheese just in time for Christmas. According to the company it’s “a masterful blend of gin and lemons with award-winning creamy Cheshire cheese,” InStyle revealed.
If you’re still not convinced, you may want to know that the cheese has won an award, picking up the bronze medal at this year’s International Cheese Awards.
Adding gin to cheese apparently improves its “melt in the mouth sensation”, but you’ll have to be the judge of that – if you can get your hands on any. According to Mashable, the product is currently out of stock, so you may have to wait until the new year to find out just how good of a combination this is.
Of course, to make this kind of product delicious, you need to start with a good quality gin, and that means finding a distiller who uses the highest quality organic grain alcohol.
If you’re a big gin fan you may well have made the time to attend Nottingham’s gin festival last month, when dedicated gin bars and distilleries popped up all over the city, enticing people to try different varieties of this versatile spirit.
