Shoppers will be able to indulge in the likes of bubblegum and hazelnut-flavoured icecreams at Asda after the new tastes have been perfected with state-of-the-art technology.
Porrelli has confirmed Bubblegum Swirl and Hazelnut Chocolate icecreams will become available in the retail giant’s 51 Scottish stores soon.
This comes after the icecream factory recently invested £35,000 in new technology that helps to create new flavours, the National Scot reported.
When it comes to creating new tastes, many manufacturers utilise monopropylene glycol to adapt flavours, although it is not clear what the Paisley family-run firm did to come up with the perfect recipe for these new icecreams.
Managing director at Porrelli Enzo Durante said: “Over the past few years, we’ve seen real innovation of icecream flavours mimicking confectionery, thanks to a revival of the modern-day icecream parlour.”
He went on to say: “We are always developing new flavour combinations and sauces, so it’s good to see this popularity now finding its way into retail pots in the supermarkets.”
These are not the only unique flavours in Porrelli’s repertoire, as it also offers Iron Brew, Turkish Delight and Tablet-flavoured icecreams.
It has been supplying Asda stores with icecreams for more than 20 years, having been producing icecream for nearly a century. Its two new flavours will be available in 500ml tubs at £2.50 each, and will sit alongside its vanilla and Scottish Tablet flavours, also on offer at the retailer.
Chester’s Ice Cream Farm has also recently launched new flavours at its north-west location, including unicorn, rhubarb cheesecake, key lime pie, Mrs Darlington’s lemon curd and millionaire’s shortbread. This is as well as the other 50 flavours of icecream customers can choose from at the venue, as well as sorbets, which include lemon, green apple, blackcurrant and mojito flavours.
