Scotland Gets UK’s First Gin Spa

The UK’s love affair with gin doesn’t appear to be waning as we move into the new year and now Scotland boasts the first gin spa in the country.

This unusual concept offers a way to relax and unwind surrounded by all things gin. The treatments and products on offer are all inspired by the botanicals used in gin production and flavouring, and you can also enjoy a range of gin-based cocktails during your visit to the spa.

Gin Spa opened in Glasgow in December, and is likely to grow in popularity if our love of the spirit itself is anything to go by.

Guests are invited to choose their treatment based on how they want to feel afterwards, with options such as relaxed, happy, tranquil and active among those to pick from.

Facials, manicures, pedicures and massages are among the treatments available at this very special spa, which has been created by the team behind Glasgow gin bar Gin71.

The Drinks Business revealed that the spa uses products from the JustBe Botanicals range, which was developed by Scottish aromatherapist Gail Bryden.

She told the publication: “Every product is lovingly handmade in Scotland using purely natural ingredients with the sole purpose of making you feel consciously alive.”

The concept is likely to succeed given that gin sales in the UK outpaced every other spirit in 2017. Figures published by the Wine and Spirit Trade Association revealed that British consumers spent £1.2 billion on gin in the year to September 2017.
